Increased Demand for Non-GMOs; Strong Promise for Produce, Meat, and Beverages

Strong growth will continue among healthy-lifestyle brands over the next few years, according to the New Hope Network, a top solutions provider in the healthy products industry.

“The global organic food and beverage market is expected to reach $320.5 billion by 2025, up from $77.4 billion in 2015,” the company predicts.

A rising consumer preference for non-GMOs is leading the charge.

“The global non-GMO foods market is growing at a steady pace,” notes a recent report by Research and Markets, an international firm that explores business trends and developments.

Market drivers include mounting consumer misgivings about the risks of GMO foods.

As the report puts it, “The increase in the number of health-conscious people and increasing demand for non-GMO food products by middle-class families are the primary reasons for the growth of the market.”

Analysts expect “the global non-GMO foods market to grow at a CAGR [compound annual growth rate] of 16.23% during the period 2017-2021,” the report concludes.

A second report by Research and Markets says produce will dominate the market for global organic foods: revenues from organic fruits and vegetables will exceed $110 billion by 2025.  Record numbers, and this market segment now leads the growth list. Sales of organic red and white meats will increase at a CAGR of 13 percent by 2025.

Healthy beverages—including non-dairy drinks made from rice, soy, and oats—made up over 33 percent of organic beverage sales in 2015. That market will exceed $55 billion by 2025 and will see a CAGR of 13 percent, says the second report.

Research and Markets analysts foresee the coffee and tea sector as the fastest-growing one in beverages; its CAGR will exceed 15 percent by 2025. And beers and wines will realize a CAGR of over 13.5 percent.

Although worldwide the region of fastest growth will be the Asia Pacific area, the largest market for organic food products remains in the U.S., New Hope concludes.
